Questions
2,551 titles, listed and link-checked at build time. These are the answers to what people actually ask about a directory like this one.
What is GAMEFAST?
GAMEFAST is a directory of games that run in a web browser. It lists 2,551 titles, made up of 166 browser ports, recompilations and open-source engine rewrites of PC and console games, plus 2,385 DOS titles that run in an emulator in the tab. Every card links out to the project that built and hosts that game.
Do I need to download or install anything?
No. Nothing listed here is downloaded or installed, and the site itself is static pages. If a page asks you to install a launcher, an extension or a "player" before a game will load, close the tab: that site is not this one.
Does GAMEFAST host the games?
No. This site hosts no game files and embeds no games. Each listing points at the project's own website, so the visit goes to the people who built the port, and the game is served from their domain under their licence.
Is it free?
The directory is free and needs no account. Individual projects set their own terms, so check the site you land on. GAMEFAST takes one direct-sold banner from a single advertiser at a time and nothing else.
Why can't I find a particular game?
Two common reasons. A game may only exist as a download or an installer, and nothing like that is listed here. Or the port may ask you to supply files from a copy of the original game, such as a ROM, a disc image or a .pk3. Those titles are deliberately left out rather than listed with a warning, because a listing that cannot be played is a dead end.
How do you know the links still work?
Every listing is fetched when the site is built, and the result is recorded. Anything that fails is flagged LINK DOWN on its card rather than quietly deleted, so you can see the difference between a project that has moved and a title that was never there.
How do I find a specific game?
Use the search box, which matches titles, genres and platforms together. The platform filter narrows a list further. The tag pages group the whole catalogue by kind rather than by source: there are 43 of them, from /tag/platformer/ and /tag/chess/ to /tag/ms-dos/.
A link is dead, or it points at the wrong game. Can I report it?
Yes, and it is the most useful thing you can send. The submit page takes a link and a note, needs no account, and is read by a person.
How do I ask for a listing or an image to be removed?
Use the copyright and takedown page. It names a designated agent, an address and a turnaround, and it does not require you to find a web form first.
Does the site track me?
There is a cookieless page counter, which measures visits rather than people, and a play counter that records how many times each title is opened so the "most played" list is measured rather than curated. There is no third-party advertising network, no cross-site tracking pixel, and no account.
Why is the site so plain?
Because it is a list of links. The pages are static HTML built once and served from an edge cache, which keeps them fast on a phone and cheap to run without an ad network paying for it.
Who runs GAMEFAST?
It is run by an individual, not a company, and it is not affiliated with any of the projects listed. Questions go to [email protected] and rights questions to [email protected].
